About Us

Strathfield Retina Clinic is a leading ophthalmology practice for the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases affecting the retina, vitreous and macula. Our team of seven retina specialists and surgeons are highly trained in the management of retinal disease.  Located in Sydney’s inner west, we are a tertiary referral centre where many patients with complex retinal conditions are referred for expert opinion and treatment. We work closely with general ophthalmologists, optometrists and general practitioners to provide comprehensive management of retinal disorders.

We understand that eye emergencies can occur and that urgent review may be required. Same-day emergency bookings are available.

Our Team

At the Strathfield Retina Clinic we take a team approach to eye health. Our staff includes ophthalmologists, orthoptists, registered nurses, technicians and clerical office staff.

Ophthalmologists (eye surgeons) are specialist medical eye doctors who, after completing medical school and working a minimum of 3 years as a general doctor, undertake a further 5-7 years of advanced training in the medical and surgical management of eye diseases.

A retina specialist is an ophthalmologist who has undergone a further 1-2 years training in disorders of the retina and vitreous. All our doctors are members of ANZsRS (Australian and New Zealand society of Retina Specialists) and RANZCO (Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists)

Orthoptists are university-trained professionals who provide ophthalmic diagnostic services, assessment of eye disorders and assistance to ophthalmologists. At Strathfield Retina Clinic our orthoptists are highly skilled in retinal imaging and uniquely trained to provide education about retinal disorders and procedures.

Strathfield Retina Clinic harnesses the expertise and commitment of the whole eye team to promote optimum eye health of our patients. We believe that one of the most important parts of that team is the patient. Through our supportive and experienced staff, patients are assured of the highest level of education and counselling about eye health.

Our staff are fluent in many languages including Cantonese, Mandarin, Arabic and Vietnamese. Interpreter services are available on request.

Our retina specialists are actively involved in ongoing research and clinical trials relating to retinal disease. They are invited to speak at national and international conferences and have published numerous scientific papers. They are committed to teaching and training the next generation of eye specialists and eye care professionals
