Dr Andrew Chang specialises in Vitreoretinal Surgery of retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane, macular hole and vitreous haemorrhage.

He graduated from University of Sydney Medical School with Honours in 1987. His general ophthalmology training was at the Sydney Eye Hospital. Dr Andrew Chang has undertaken retinal fellowships at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, New York.   In 1996, he was appointed as Assistant Professor to the University of California, Davis.

In 2004, Dr Andrew Chang was awarded Doctor of Philosophy by the University of Sydney for his research into ocular angiography and in the investigation of macular degeneration. He has authored numerous scientific papers in international and Australian scientific journals and book chapters in leading textbooks in Vitreoretinal Diseases.

Dr Chang practices exclusively in medical and surgical retinal diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, retinal tear and detachment, epiretinal membrane and macular holes.

He is committed to teaching of Ophthalmology trainees and fellows.

Dr Andrew Chang is currently appointed as a Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Sydney Eye Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital.
